Low. Netflix hires very few engineers and starts at Senior level. Headcount growth is intentionally constrained.
Top of market cash. No default RSU. Each year you pick how much of your compensation comes as stock options. Most engineers take all cash. Check levels.fyi for current Senior, Staff, and Principal ranges.
> **How current is this?** Checked 3 August 2026. Netflix publishes its culture memo, which the values rounds draw on. Everything else here is what candidates consistently report, not something the company publishes. Loops change without announcement, so treat this as a guide rather than a specification.
Netflix does not hire juniors. The floor is Senior, and the Culture Memo is the rubric.
Read it before applying. The original Culture Deck has been updated several times.
The current version (2024 onward) emphasizes Judgment, Selflessness, Courage, Communication, Curiosity, Inclusion, Integrity, and the "Dream Team" framing.
The Keeper Test is the real evaluation criterion. Managers ask of every report: "if X wanted to leave, would I fight to keep them?" If the answer is no, Netflix parts ways with generous severance. The hiring loop is built around finding people who would pass the Keeper Test from day one.
Pay is top of market and unusual. There is no default RSU grant.
Each year you pick how much of your compensation comes as stock options. Most engineers take all cash because the option grants are small and Netflix's stock has limited upside compared to private equity at frontier companies.
The loop is short and deep. 4 to 6 rounds, 45 to 60 minutes each.
Decision is fast: 3 to 7 days after the final round, often within 48 hours. System design carries more weight than at any other big tech.
